Today I hand delivered a couple of 6x8 Reclaimed Douglas fir posts to friend and client Jim Sellers in San Francisco, California. The two posts were only 48 inches long, so I threw them in my Prius hatchback and headed to the city for a visit. Jim is the Founder and CEO of Seller's Market, a leading edge artisan-organic-local- casual- food joint. Jim needed the recycled lumber fir posts to finish his patio/bar area right in the heart of San Francisco's financial district (corner on 2nd and Market). He had recently purchased from Black's Farmwood Inc. the following: urban salvage wood slab tables for the interior of the restaurant, reclaimed Douglas fir 8x12 posts for the patio, and authentic reclaimed barn wood siding for the interior wainscoting.

To my surprise, when I pulled up in the loading zone, there was a 12' x 14' reclaimed redwood barn siding billboard right on the side of the skyscraper that is home to Seller's Market. It was awesome to see weathered barn siding from the original homestead barn from Steven's Creek Valley (circa 1870) right down in middle of a 21st century city with all of its people, and steel and concrete and glass.
