Antique Heart Pine Select Grade Flooring
Select grade refers to the upper end of antique heart pine flooring. These boards are chosen for tighter grain, cleaner faces, fewer knots, and more consistent color from plank to plank. The result is a floor with a refined, quieter presence while still carrying the density, warmth, and depth that define old-growth heart pine.
The material itself is reclaimed old-growth longleaf pine salvaged from post-industrial structures and buildings constructed more than a century ago. With tight growth rings formed over generations, the wood is extraordinarily dense and dimensionally stable compared to younger pine. Material of this quality no longer exists in modern supply and can only be sourced through reclamation. Its color ranges from golden amber to deep red orange and continues to deepen naturally with age and light exposure. The smooth surface allows the grain and figure to speak clearly without distraction, giving the floor a more restrained and architectural feel. The gallery below shows this flooring in a range of finishes, including Bona Extra Matte, Rubio Monocoat Pure, and unfinished wood, offering a sense of how differently the material reads depending on finish and lighting conditions. |
