Milled to Your SpecificationsReclaimed wood flooring is not a one-size-fits-all product. Every project has different width requirements, thickness tolerances, grade preferences, and surface character needs, and we work with each client to specify the right combination for their space. Planks can be milled to custom widths and lengths, sorted by grade and surface character, and specified as solid or engineered construction.
We source from multiple structure types, antique tobacco barns, agricultural buildings, deconstructed industrial warehouses, and historic mills, each yielding wood with its own distinct density, color, and surface history. The result is a floor that is genuinely one of a kind, because the material itself is one of a kind. |
Rustic or Smooth?
Reclaimed wood is available in two distinct surface expressions, and the choice between them is one of the most important design decisions in the specification process.
A rough-faced surface preserves the original aged patina of the barn siding or structural timber, with circle-saw marks, nail holes, color variation, and the warm, organic texture that only decades of exposure can produce. It is the most authentic expression of the material and works especially well in rustic, farmhouse, and industrial-inspired interiors. A smooth face surface is skip planed to remove the roughest texture while preserving the underlying patina, grain character, nail holes, and surface checking. It brings a more refined appearance to the same-aged material and works equally well in contemporary and traditional settings. We offer narrow to wide reclaimed wood planks, including random-width options, available as solid or engineered construction. Our engineered reclaimed flooring uses formaldehyde-free adhesives and CARB Phase 2 compliant plywood cores, an important consideration for LEED projects and clients prioritizing indoor air quality. |
