Antique Oak Threshing Floor

Oak threshing floors were the working heart of an agricultural barn, the surface where harvested grain was beaten, turned, and separated by hand and by foot over generations. The boards that made up these floors are among the most worn and expressive materials we carry.
The oak is reclaimed from barn threshing floors that are 150 to 200 years old. The planks are massive in scale, wide and thick in the way old-growth lumber once allowed before that material disappeared from modern supply. The original surface has never been refinished. What you see is exactly what decades of agricultural use left behind: compressed grain, uneven patina, and color that shifts dramatically from board to board depending on how each plank aged. That variation is part of what makes this floor distinctive. Some boards have darkened to a deep weathered gray, while others retain warmer tan and brown tones. Laid together, the range creates a floor that reads as genuinely old rather than artificially distressed. This is one of our most character-rich reclaimed options and one of the most irreplaceable. Once this material is gone, there is no equivalent source. |
