Eastern white pine has been used for wide plank flooring in North America since colonial times, and for good reason. It is lighter and softer than oak or hickory, with a warmth and character that come from its natural color range, open grain, and the way it ages over time rather than from density or dramatic figure.
We source this flooring from antique barns and granaries throughout North America, salvaging old-growth eastern white pine that is no longer available as new lumber. The color ranges from light blonde to warm chestnut brown, varying from board to board depending on how each plank aged and where it sat within the original structure. The surface is smooth, allowing the grain, knots, and natural color variation to read clearly without distraction. It is a quieter, more intimate floor than our darker or more heavily figured reclaimed options, and one that works especially well in spaces that call for warmth and lightness rather than visual drama.
