Old World Farmhouse Collection

The Old World Farmhouse Collection is the most rustic and characterful of our three French oak collections, hand-distressed by French artisans to display the full range of what genuinely aged wood can look like. Each board is partially cut from heartwood, which means the natural imperfections are pronounced and intentional: open cracks, open knots, sawing marks, discoloration, and oil stains that give every plank an uncompromisingly authentic appearance. The surface is intentionally undulated, adding a physical dimension to the character that flatter floors cannot replicate.
Optional metallic inserts can be placed randomly throughout the floor, referencing the aesthetic of old factories and industrial workshops where metal was part of the working environment. They add another layer of visual interest that sets this collection apart from anything else we carry. Finished with reactive stains and natural oil finishes that work with the oak’s own tannins, the color varies significantly from board to board, keeping large installations feeling alive rather than repetitive. Of our three French oak collections, Old World Farmhouse has the heaviest distressing and the most dramatic surface character. It works especially well in spaces that can absorb that level of texture and variation without feeling overwhelmed.
