Hickory is one of the hardest domestic hardwoods, dense and impact-resistant in a way that few flooring species can match. As flooring, it combines durability with a character-grade selection that emphasizes the species’ most visually distinctive qualities.
Character-grade hickory includes more of the natural variation that makes the wood unique: the dramatic contrast between deep brown heartwood and pale, creamy sapwood, pronounced knots, mineral streaking, and color movement that shifts from board to board. That range is what gives a hickory floor its energy and presence, and what keeps it feeling natural rather than overly uniform or processed. Available unfinished or prefinished in a range of widths.
