Mountain Oak is a new domestic white oak milled with a 60-inch-diameter circular saw, the same method used in sawmills of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The large blade leaves a distinctive texture on the surface, circular saw marks that give the wood a character and presence more commonly associated with reclaimed material than new lumber.
The result is a wide plank white oak floor that feels authentically aged without actually being reclaimed. The color ranges from golden honey to warm dark brown, and live-sawn milling produces a mix of flat, rift, and quartered grain that gives the floor its movement and variation from plank to plank. It works especially well in mountain homes, farmhouse interiors, and spaces where the warmth and texture of reclaimed wood is desired but the consistency and availability of new material is preferred. The gallery below shows this flooring in a range of finishes, including Bona Extra Matte, Rubio Monocoat Pure, and unfinished wood, offering a sense of how differently the material reads depending on finish, lighting, and surrounding materials. |
