Rough Face Tobacco Barn Oak Flooring
Rough face is exactly what it sounds like. These boards come from antique tobacco barns and go to the floor with their original surface intact. No planing, no smoothing, no refinishing. What you see is what a century or more of weathering, exposure, and use left behind.
The surface carries circle-saw marks, nail holes, mineral staining, color variation, and a texture that shifts from board to board, depending on how each plank has aged. Some areas are darker and more heavily weathered. Others retain warmer brown tones closer to the original oak. The result is one of the most raw and authentic reclaimed wood floors we offer. It is also one of the most visually dramatic. The variation is significant, and the floor has a depth and presence that immediately changes the feel of a room. Every board reads differently, which gives the installation movement, texture, and a sense of history that cannot be replicated with new material. The gallery below shows this flooring installed in a range of interiors, illustrating how the material reads once fully installed. |
